Broken Boiler? Boiler Service Saves Vermont Residents
As a Vermont resident, you already know how critical your boiler is to keeping your home warm and keeping you comfortable. Some boilers will go a lifetime without the need for servicing. However, if the boiler has no power; if the water level is low; if the pilot or electronic burner ignition malfunctions; or if the thermostat malfunctions, you'll need service.
Run These Checks Before Calling Boiler Repair
There are a few boiler problems that can be solved with just a few basic checks of your system. Bob Barnes, a professional contractor and owner of Barrow Project Management, recommends the following easy, safe steps to check your boiler before calling a boiler repair service:
1. If the circuit breaker or fuse controlling the furnace is tripped or blown, simply reset the tripped circuit breaker or replace blown fuse
2. If you notice that the pilot light is out, follow the manufacturer's guidelines on relighting the standing pilot
3. Check that thermostat is in heat mode and has the right setting--if not, try moving the thermostat setting for temperature up or down a few degrees
4. The water level should be at half full--if not, manually feed the boiler by opening up the water feed valve until the boiler pressure reaches 12 psi.
Vermont Winters Keep Boiler Repair on Call
According to the Federal Emergency Management Agency, winter storm damage in the state is a primary concern. FEMA recommends taking actions in advance--including having your boiler serviced by a professional boiler repair company. Calling on experts costs a bit more than doing it yourself, but you'll appreciate the quick safe turn time and restoration of your heat.

Home Heating Systems
It usually isn’t until we receive our energy bill that we remember how our home

systems are controlled by a simple turn of the thermostat and magically we have
heat! In recent times, homeowners are becoming more conscious of how much heat
is used because energy costs are taking a bigger bite out of our household
budgets.
