Boiler Repair Eases the Pain of Montana-sized Winters
Montana climates can be brutal. Below freezing temps and dry air can wreck havoc on your boiler unit or furnace system. As a homeowner, know these quick fixes--and then know when to call boiler service repair.
Before Calling for Boiler Repair, Try This First
According to Bob Barnes, professional contractor and owner of Barrow Project Management, before you press panic and call a professional boiler service, give these simple diagnostics a try:
1. Too much noise. Lots of noise is typically serious trouble. But check to see if the circulator is faulty, meaning the spring load coupling breaks and jams the pump. Or you could have water trapped in the return lines, which is repaired by sloping the radiator pitch back towards the return pipe.
2. Not enough heat. Typically means the expansion tank has too little air and too much water. Let the tank cool down, draining the excess water, and use the purge valve let air in and release water. Recharge for an hour or two to see if the fix worked.
3. No heat at all. This is caused by low water levels or an electric malfunction, such as a blown circuit breaker. Replace the circuit breaker and set the water level at half. Check the other parts of the boiler, as a safety precaution.
Harsh Montana Winters Keep Boiler Repair Busy
Not only was the lowest temperature in the lower 48 recorded here at minus 70 degrees, AllBozeman.com reports that frigid Montana winters strike hardest towards the end of November and don't let up for months. Having a boiler repair contact that you can count on means a lot in the region.

Home Heating Systems
It usually isn’t until we receive our energy bill that we remember how our home
is heated. Heat is often taken for granted because for the most part our heating
systems are controlled by a simple turn of the thermostat and magically we have
heat! In recent times, homeowners are becoming more conscious of how much heat
is used because energy costs are taking a bigger bite out of our household
budgets.
